Antioxidant and enzyme-inhibiting activity of lyophilized extract from Clinopodium vulgare L. (Lamiaceae)

Clinopodium vulgare L. (Lamiaceae) was used in the traditional Bulgarian medicine for treatment of wounds, diabetes and gastric ulcers. The aim present study to evaluate antioxidant capacity extract (CVE) fractions from C. (CV) using DPPH, ABTS FRAP methods. Enzyme inhibitory activity against acetylcholinesterase, α -glucosidase -amylase also investigated. Rosmarinic acid as a positive control. fraction CV3 demonstrated highest radical scavenging with IC 50 values 0.02 mg/ml (DPPH) 0.0002 (ABTS), well strongest ferric reducing potential (FRAP) 0.89 mM TE/mg dw. crude aqueous-methanol showed high 0.05 (DPPH), 0.04 (ABTS) dw (FRAP).
